Elizabeth Russell (Communications Director & APBI Program Rep.)

Program & Degree:  PhD, Applied Animal Biology

Research Focus: My research focuses on dairy cattle welfare, specifically on calves and weaning. I work with dairy farmers to understand how best practices for calf rearing are implemented on farms.

What inspired you to pursue this field of study?

I have always been fascinated by the human-animal bond, and growing up in an agricultural community sparked my passion for dairy cows. And honestly, who can resist baby cows?

What’s your favourite food?

I love black olives (specifically California grown) and BC grown raspberries
